One of the reasons that the Trump economy is failing, is that what is the best strategy as a person, is often opposed to what is the best strategy as a country, and the other way around. Because those two entities are on the opposite ends of the same stick, as "business" always needs two players in order to move anything around.
For example when a person buys something it spends something, which decreases its wealth ; but when a country spends, it usually increases its wealth, and for two reasons: 1/ a country doesn't waste money, it invests, 2/ the persons a country pays for doing its things are part of the economic activity, and they pay their taxes here
